Mission Update: Highlights from May

As we reflect on the past month, we are filled with gratitude and awe for the incredible work God has done through our mission efforts. From providing clean water to a persecuted family in Vietnam to supporting vulnerable children and mothers in the Philippines and delivering essential supplies to orphans in Haiti, your prayers and contributions have made a profound impact. Here are some highlights from our mission partners in May.

A New Well for a Persecuted Family

This May, we completed a well project for a brave couple in Vietnam who converted from Buddhism to Christianity. Their story, shared in a previous blog post, is a testament to their faith and resilience. Along with their twelve-month-old daughter, they faced severe persecution from their families for embracing Christ. The husband endured physical violence, resulting in a serious concussion, and the family was denied access to the family well, forcing them to travel to the river for water. Our team donated $700.00 to build them a new well, giving them clean water and easing their hardship.

Support for The Lighthouse Center in the Philippines

In Panabo City, Mindanao, Philippines, we sent an additional $7,000.00 to our mission partners for the ongoing renovation of The Children’s & Women’s Center, known as The Lighthouse Center. The Strength In The Valley Foundation, working through The Lighthouse Center, supports abandoned mothers and children by providing job training, medical care, meals, clothing, and Bible teaching. Pastors Hernani and Mila Resueno, along with their family, have been ministering for over 50 years.

Recent updates include work on the gutter and drainage system of the Children’s Wing, with plans to update the children's bathroom, kitchen, and learning area. These renovations are crucial for creating a safe and nurturing environment for the children and mothers they serve.

Food and Supplies for Jerusalem Children’s Home in Haiti

Early in May, President Reedson Maurancy, his wife Lude, and an assistant undertook a brave 16-hour journey (one-way) to Cap-Haitien, Haiti's second-largest city, to deliver food and supplies to Jerusalem Children’s Home. Despite the dangerous conditions with gangs controlling the country, they were able to complete the trip safely.

Daybreak Community Church, Encouraging Word International, and independent donors collectively contributed $1,800.00 to cover food for 29 orphans, gas, the cook’s wages, and the security guard’s wages for May and June 2024. Additionally, Daybreak Community Church and the Mission Committee have committed to sponsoring the food, cook, and security guard through the fiscal year 2024, which ends in February 2025.

How You Can Help

If you'd like to support the orphans at Jerusalem Children’s Home, you can give directly through Daybreak’s giving page and select JCH in the drop-down menu. Your contributions will help provide essential resources and ensure the safety and well-being of these vulnerable children.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of those in need.
